Prolander visit to Rozendaal Forest

On Friday 27 September, 35 employees of Prolander and the province of Drenthe took part in an excursion in the Rozendaalse Bos example forest. Despite the heavy rain, the participants entered the forest enthusiastically. During the excursion, Brian van Beek (Senior forester projects, Staatsbosbeheer) and Jan Oldenburger (Forest Advisor Gelderland, Staatsbosbeheer) explained the principles of Life Climate Forest and showed how they work through in the practice of forest management.

One of the participants summed up the excursion nicely afterwards: "During the afternoon, we gained insight into the methods used to revitalise the existing forest by targeted thinning and giving space to future trees, among other things. It was interesting to see how structured you work in this and how much species and field knowledge is required. Still a lot more labour-intensive that I expected."

The Rozendaal Forest is one of the demonstration forests from LIFE Climate Forest.
